Honey Lemon Ginger Tea | Sweet & Sorrel

Happy Sunday! I’m coming at you with a quick recipe today.

Honey Lemon Ginger Tea…

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love tea, but I’ve held off on posting any tea recipes on my blog because I thought maybe people don’t like to make their own tea, or maybe it’s just too easy of a recipe to post on the blog. But I decided to post it anyway because I love this tea so much!

Most days I make tea using store bought tea bags or loose leaf tea, but sometimes I like to make my own. I especially like to make my own ginger tea because the ones I find in the store just aren’t strong enough!

The recipe…

So if you’re looking for a strong ginger taste, this Honey Lemon Ginger Tea is for you. Here are the instructions.

First, peel fresh ginger. I like to use a spoon to scrape the skin off the ginger because it’s faster than using a knife. Use the back of the spoon to beat the ginger. This releases some of the juices, which will make for a stronger tea.

Next, add fresh ginger to a saucepan with water. Bring to a boil, then turn off the stove and cover the pot. Leave to steep for 5 minutes. You can leave the tea longer for a stronger ginger taste. Because it’s fall, I had some fun and added some cranberries, cinnamon sticks and star anise. Totally optional!

Finally, add honey and fresh lemon slices. Pour into a mug and enjoy!

What About Iced Tea?

You can absolutely make this into an iced tea. Just brew as directed above and flavor with honey (it’s easier to add the honey when the tea is hot). Then fill a pitcher with ice cubes and pour the tea into the pitcher. Stir and add fresh lemon slices. Enjoy!

You can also make this recipe vegan by using agave instead of honey.
