Homemade Watermelon Juice is the perfect drink for a hot summer day. This refreshing juice requires only 2 ingredients and is ready in minutes. That means more time spent relaxing and sipping this tasty juice!
Happy Sunday! By now, you should all know that I love making my own juices from scratch. After all, this blog is named after a drink! From homemade carrot juice to aloe vera juice and sorrel, I have already made lots of juices for the blog and I plan on making many more, including today’s watermelon juice recipe. It’s honestly one of my favorite things to do. I really enjoy the process of making my own juice from scratch, it makes me feel like I’m actually creative (I’m really not!).
Why I Love Watermelon Juice…
Watermelons are such a great summer fruit. They are filled with water, which makes them very refreshing. At the same time, watermelons are also sweet. How is that even possible?! Plus, the size of most watermelons makes them super shareable, perfect for summer bbqs and picnics.
I feel like watermelon juice is just an upgraded version of a watermelon. It has all the benefits, but no rind to dispose of, and no seeds. Literal juice perfection!
The Recipe…
I feel a little silly calling this watermelon juice a recipe since it’s so easy to make, but hey, I am all about simple, as long as it’s also delicious. And this watermelon juice delivers on both.
Honestly, the only required ingredient here is a watermelon. I used a medium size watermelon, roughly 6 pounds.
You can blend the watermelon by itself and call it a day, but I like to add some coconut water to stretch the watermelon juice a bit and give it some extra flavor. The more juice, the merrier. Sugar is completely optional, especially when your watermelons are ripe and in season.
The steps to making this juice are as easy as 1-2-3.
-
First, cut and slice the watermelons, being sure to remove the rind. I suggest getting a seedless watermelon. They are just as flavorful as the seeded variety, but less messy. It’s a pain trying to remove all the seeds.
-
Blend your fruit with some water. I used coconut water for this recipe. You can add sugar if you’d like, but watermelons are already pretty sweet.
-
Strain the watermelon juice to get rid of any pulp, then pour into a pitcher, refrigerate for a few hours and serve!
Substitutions…
You can switch up this watermelon juice in so many different ways!
If you want to make it a little bubbly, add some champagne! Or a dash of sparkling water.
Want a bit of zing? Add some lime juice!
Feeling minty? Throw in some fresh mint and get to sipping.
The possibilities are endless.
And of course, you can substitute the watermelon for another summer fruit. You can try:
Cantaloupe
Honeydew
Mango
You can also try this recipe with different color watermelons for a nice visual presentation.
Let me know if you make any substitutions!

Watermelon Juice
Ingredients
- 1 5-6lb seedless watermelon, diced with rind removed
- 8 cups coconut water
- 1 tbsp cane sugar optional
Instructions
- Working in batches, add watermelon, enough coconut water to cover the watermelons, and sugar (optional) to a high powered blender. Blend on high until watermelon is completely dissolved. (I worked in 3 batches).
- Pour watermelon juice through a fine mesh strainer and into a pitcher. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. Watermelon juice can last covered in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- NOTE: For a fancy drink, add sparkling water or champagne right before serving. Top with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
